Pawgic vs BetterTouchTool: a smaller input layer

BetterTouchTool (folivora.ai) customizes a large part of the Mac, and unused pieces can be turned off. Pawgic is narrower: keyboard remaps, a discrete mouse wheel, and mouse or trackpad gestures. It is not a “better BTT”.

A USB dial is Vibekey. Switching apps by initial is Tabbit.

Short answer

  • Per-app shortcuts, or a mouse wheel that should reverse without touching the trackpad: Pawgic.
  • Window snapping, Stream Deck, clipboard history, scripts, or conditional automation: stay on BTT. Both can be installed. Test shortcut conflicts yourself.
  • This page does not cite download counts.

What Pawgic does

  • Global or per-app keyboard shortcuts.
  • Smooth or reverse a normal mouse wheel without changing trackpad scrolling.
  • Mouse and trackpad gestures you define.
  • Built-in text edits such as line start, line end, and delete previous word.
  • Pause keyboard, mouse, and trackpad mappings separately.
  • Settings stay on the Mac, with optional sync through your own iCloud Drive.

The FAQ limits wheel smoothing and reversal to discrete mouse-wheel events. Trackpads, Magic Mouse, and driver-generated continuous scrolling are outside that path.

The homepage also lists app switching. That means a gesture or shortcut can send a switch action. It is not Tabbit’s Command-Tab plus a letter.

Accessibility is required. Typed text is not uploaded. Trial and activation send email and device identifiers. Apple Silicon, macOS 13 or later. Intel is not supported.

Price

Checked 2026-10-14. The in-repo pricing component shows ¥69 and $9.99. The README describes a Gumroad price of $9.99, a Pawgic 1.x lifetime license, and 2 Macs. The homepage HTML fetched that day did not render those numbers. Confirm at checkout.

The 7-day trial is once per email and once per Mac, and it needs a network connection. The version snapshot in the README is 0.3.45. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized. BetterTouchTool’s price stays on folivora.ai.

How to choose

Use Pawgic when the input layer is the whole job. Keep BTT when windows and devices already live there. Map a hardware dial with Vibekey.
